Course Description

Course Overview

The Xperience Design (XD) Training course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Adobe XD, a powerful software application used for designing and prototyping user experiences (UX). This course focuses on teaching the principles, methodologies, and practical techniques of UX design using Adobe XD. Through a combination of theoretical lectures, hands-on exercises, and design projects, students will learn how to create engaging and user-friendly digital experiences from concept to interactive prototypes.

Prerequisites

  • Basic understanding of graphic design principles and terminology.
  • Familiarity with design software (such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator) is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Access to a computer with Adobe XD installed (the latest version is recommended).

Methodology

The course will employ a blended learning approach, combining theoretical lectures, instructor-led demonstrations, and hands-on design exercises. The lectures will introduce students to the key principles and methodologies of UX design, while the demonstrations will showcase practical applications of Adobe XD. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge through design exercises and projects, receiving feedback and guidance from the instructor.

Course Outline

  • Introduction to UX Design
  • Understanding the importance of user-centered design and its impact on digital experiences
  • Overview of UX design principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Introduction to Adobe XD and its role in the UX design process
  • Designing User Interfaces (UI)
  • Applying design principles to create visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces
  • Utilizing Adobe XD’s design tools, including artboards, grids, and typography
  • Designing responsive layouts for different screen sizes and devices
  • Prototyping and Interaction Design
  • Creating interactive prototypes using Adobe XD’s powerful prototyping features
  • Defining navigation flows, transitions, and interactions to simulate user experiences
  • Conducting usability testing and gathering feedback to refine prototypes
  • Designing Microinteractions and Animations
  • Incorporating microinteractions to provide delightful user experiences
  • Creating animated transitions, gestures, and visual feedback using Adobe XD’s animation tools
  • Adding motion to UI elements to enhance engagement and usability
  • Collaboration and Handoff
  • Collaborating with stakeholders, developers, and other designers using Adobe XD’s collaboration features
  • Generating design specifications and assets for development handoff
  • Streamlining the design-to-development workflow using design systems and style guides

Outcome

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Understand the principles and methodologies of UX design and apply them to create engaging digital experiences.
  • Design visually appealing and intuitive user interfaces using Adobe XD’s design tools.
  • Create interactive prototypes with realistic interactions and navigation flows.
  • Incorporate microinteractions and animations to enhance user engagement.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and streamline the design-to-development workflow.

Labs
